This may be in an FAQ somewhere, I have not looked as of yet, but I will.

Having said that here is my question....

Thunderwolves are a 2W model. If you take a Wolf Lord and give him a Thunderwolf Mountwould that not give him a fourth wound? There by giving him 3 wounds for the Lord plus 1 wound for the mount.

As I have said I will hunt the FAQs to see if there is an answer to this, but I would love to hear your thoughts and comments to this.

At the forgeworld open day I spoke to Tamiya Fox and asked when the model would be released. She told me they had no immediate plans to relesse the wolf lord and the redmaw. I was advised to convert the model for use in games.

As far as the rules go, he is great fun. Units that have unusual rules definately make the game more interesting.

First of all, not counting charge; You aren't trading 5 attacks for d6+1, you are trading 4 attacks for d6+2.

Why only 4 attacks? Because you give Mark of the Wulfen to the guy you threw the storm shield on, since he doesn't get the extra weapon attack anyway.

why d6+2? Because the FAQ tells you that Thunderwolf cavalry have their base stats modified.

Mark of the Wulfen close combat attacks are not modified by wargear, but wargear can still modify the base stats of the model (the faq says that thunderwolf cavalry stats are modified by thunderwolf, even though thunderwolf isn't written in their wargear list), that's why it still strikes at strength 5. So d6+1, +1 more for thunderwolf, and +1 more when you charge.

d6+3 attacks instead of 5 for your assaulting guy with the stormshield isn't bad, especially when it only costs you 5 points.

If your opponent doesn't allow Forgeworld rules (which I can understand), I think Ragnar's rules work in a pinch.

Or you could just take the model as a standard Wolf Lord, kitted out with the same equipment, just without all the special rules. That should work just fine since you won't be introducing any new rules, just a fancy model.

my friends already have a hard time digesting scouts so for me to bring redmaw with GH on outflank will probably be to much and if he is not in core rules they will probably disallow him

but with that being said, he could modelwise make a hell of character, maybe I field him as a wolf priest and imagine his frost weapon is a crozius instead :P

@ Mathias: Bran Redmaw and his special rules are featured in Imperial Armour 11. The use of Imperial Armour/Forge World rules and models is often dependent on the local game environment in which you play, so it never hurts to ask if people have a preference before you play. That said I'm pretty sure that most tournaments disallow FW material so Bran would be most often seen in local/casual games.

TBH, I am not sold on the hardships of an ebay seller. You know going in that you are going to lose a flat fee off the top, either suck it up or list a higher starting bid. I know how much it costs to send from you to me so why should you add more then a euro or dollar to the cost for a parcel?

I think the idea that AOBR is a starter kit in and of itself. I have some old as hell space marines I got when I started. THey are poorly painted and have crap detail, when I want to have something pretty I get propper models.
Noam seems to be talking kitbash and conversion as the same. A kitbash is something anyone can do. How hard is it to glue some bits together? Yes conversion is more difficult but I love my custom Dante far more then my standard model. If you are serious about making the army look pretty and having it look your way then you are going to have to do a little bit of work.
