Please note: this is a brand new, unpainted, unassembled Rhino. The picture on the left is for illustration purposes only.
This is our First Raffle. We intend to do this once a month (coming up: a pro painted squad of 5 sky claws, a pro painted squad of 5 Wolf Guard Terminators, a landraider upgrade Sprue, a Landraider, Razorback, Drop pod and other goodies). From pro painted units to new on sprue units, every month we will have a different Raffle. Here is how you play: Buy a $1 ticket via the DONATE button (you can buy as many as you wish, the more you buy, the better your chances are), mention in your payment notes that this is for the Rhino (or whatever unit we are raffeling that month) Raffle. For those who donated: if you donated, you are eligible to participate in the monthly raffle for your donation amount (obviously, just for that month’s raffle, so next month you will need to donate again if you wish to participate) a donation of $10 will give you 10 chances to win and so on.
One of the readers (Firnwulf, see in the comments) came up with a good idea: people who submit articles which get published, will automatically be entered into that month's Raffle without having to make a donation (10 entries per article). Obviously, this does not relate to any paid writers for the blog.
We will announce the lucky winner on Friday 2/24/12…
WE HAVE A WINNER: THOMAS FROEHLICH from Germany! Congratulations Thomas! We will ship the item to you on Monday.

is it important where you're from, or is this US/UK only?

Nope, I believe our next one is "Unit" related. One of the Heavy Support choices rarely taken. - Paul

Not a con, but clearly an attempt to make money off of blogging...not that that in an of itself is amoral or something...but it's just pretty obvious. I mean, WTF is this money for? Is it going to charity? Raffles are for fundraising for charities or to support a non-profit. Not to line your pockets.
How about posting some quality reading before diving straight into money-making?
February 11, 2012 9:59 PM
Stop being jerks! There is alot of good knowledge on this blog. You can either be part of the raffle or not.
February 12, 2012 5:27 AM
Guys, you have to see that the loyal readers of Adams blog are not gonna embrace you if your just trying to recoup costs. That's a sure fire way to halt the traffic and that will cost you in the long run.
Also - telling an very well respected ex sw blog author to go fuck himself is not helping your case!
February 12, 2012 6:20 AM
I agree, if you need to money so badly and for the causes you already stated, why don't you post how much everything you 'need' costs. In reality, content writers shouldn't cost a thing, you write because it is something you enjoy doing, not something you are paid to do. I'm sure you can make enough to fuel your hobby needs just through all the banners you have on the blog.
Now if a few months down the line this quality of writing increases dramatically and is something worth the read (like all the old content by Adam) then you can suggest that donations might help. But not before, doesn't help what you're trying to do by asking for money (which is essentially what you are doing) after every post!
February 12, 2012 6:20 AM
Well, just 3 posts since the "resurrection" and this is the third in which you ask us to donate...
In the past, all the followers of this blog weren´t all the way reading DONATE every post from the blog...
I now we are not conned to do so, but it either becomes annoying to read it daily.
If the blog must remain death because no one can take care of it... will be a great loss but I prefer the old blog, with lot of WiP´s, lists, and ideas better than a one that is going to be all the day asking for money.
Sorry but that´s my sincere opinion onto this.
Asking monet, as MJay has said, everyday will make us go. We want to read Space Wolves content, but not this way.
February 12, 2012 6:24 AM
"Your donation helps us with operation expenses as well as hiring professional writers in order to produce high quality content!"
Can you justify these cost please?
Blogspot is free, and you have the fan-base already so I can't understand what 'operation expenses' are.
And like I said previously, all the content which is written by the members of the blog should be free, they shouldn't wanted to be 'paid'.
If its external writers (such as the wolf and sister thing) I'm sure people would be happier just sticking to the actual hobby content if there isn't a cry for money at the end of every post.
February 12, 2012 6:31 AM
Well Dom, I suppose all of us, the readers of the ol´ blog, would write here articles FOR FREE, without the need for money...
Only because Wolves´s are our most beloved army and we all want to develope deeper and wisest into their playing...
As you say, seems weird that all the older bloggers wrote here for free and now all need to be paid for...
Sorry but I´m not liking all of these shit.
February 12, 2012 6:49 AM
If it came to that I (and as you said, I'm sure many others) would happily write for the blog (for free).
But we'll see what happens...
February 12, 2012 7:06 AM
I think Dom hit it on the head.
Blogspot is free, the older writers did it for free and plenty of folk have said they would do it for free.
Furthermore you're actually getting ad revenue for the ads on the side of the blog.
Now if it is for the special things, such as Wolf and Sister...fair enough. But state that, please. Don't constantly post begging for money. Don't wander to forums, post links with no explanation and proceed to insult people because their immediate response isn't OMG MUST PAY YOU MONEY FOR BLOG YOU JUST TOOK OVER! You could argue that we're paying for quality content. But that's the thing...since you came in there's been three posts and we're 12 days into the month.
Compared to last year - 178 posts before a hiatus and 2010, 210 posts...not impressive.
February 12, 2012 10:48 AM
Guys,
I read your comments and believe you deserve a reply:
(1) I thank you for caring, both those who are for or against the "money" aspect of the blog. Passion is what drives all of us and the fact you care either way is a good thing in my book.
(2) Please note that not ALL the posts were about money. The first post was about us being back and money . The second post was about starting a wolves army and included the Raffle but as per Adam suggestion I separated the post from the raffle, so the second post was definitely NOT about money.
(3) The Raffle is about money (so I can pay the writers, yes I pay some people to write), for sure, but it is also something many of our Facebook members asked for. So while we are making a profit here (which as I understand, in the blogosphere, is blasphemy)., it goes right back to the blog.
(4) It is very kind of you guys to offer to write for FREE but I have yet to receive a single offer of such activity from any of you. So please, prove me wrong, there is a contact us email on the top right, send your articles, battle reports or anything else that you think is appropriate for the Space Wolves blog.
(5) Adam stopped writing because life got in the way. Adam is now writing because I pay him. Adam himself told me that all those who used to write with him stopped cold turkey and did not contribute to the blog. So please, I understand you care and I understand everybody wished he could write but finding the time is not as simple as you think and I find that money helps people find the time. Hence I pay a couple of people who are “professional” and “acceptable” in their writing to help populate the blog.
CONTINUED on the next reply...
February 12, 2012 10:49 AM
Continued....
(6) In regards to the DONATE button: this is again something the Facebook members asked for. I will be honest: I wanted to take all the content and make this a subscription type site: You want to read? Its $5 or $10 per year… I rather have 100 readers paying $10 that 10,000 readers who pay nothing. But I am not doing this as a business; I am doing this for the community. How many of you cared enough to shell a significant amount (a lot more than $100, 500 or even a $1000) to get this blog back to life? The answer to this is clear: NONE. I stepped up and did it, do I need your thank you? Your appreciation? Not really, but it would be nice to at least get some positive feedback rather than calling me a CON and say that I am all about money. If this was a business to me, I would shut it down… Let me make it clear, I am not here to recoup my “investment” if this was an investment, I would have turned it down; there is no positive return here. This blog does not make enough money to support anything in the real life. Maybe at the end of a month Adam could have bought a nice box or two of Wolf Guard Terminators, that would have been a good month…
(7) Page views? Clicks? Do you really think I care? If you think I am here to entertain anybody other than myself and Paul, you are gravely mistaken. I am here for one reason only: I wanted Adam to continue writing, so I bought the blog and I am PAYING him out of my own pocket to write. Want to read? You’re welcome. Don’t like how the blog is going? You’re welcome to do whatever it is you feel like doing. As I wrote above, I accept you and love your passion. But unless you take action (by writing or donating or contributing to this community in any other way) you are just like a person who drives by a scene of an accident and does nothing to help, you are a passerby, and as such, while I appreciate your opinion, you really have no effect on how things go around here. Want my respect and listening ear? Want to matter? CONTRIBUTE! Write, donate, contact me with advice (positive constructive advice)…
(8) About me: I am not a kid, I am 41 years old with a family and a business I own. I don’t do this for the money that the blog generates; the money generated by this blog on a monthly basis is less than what I spend on a single business lunch. I find it a bit offensive that you people think this is about money. But I do see how it looks like from your end. You don’t know me nor understand my motivation. I hope that now that I explained myself, we can all start communicating in a positive manner.
February 12, 2012 10:55 AM
Can I just say that I think the raffle was a fun way to reward those who do donate. I personally thought it was a great idea. Thats why I am going to donate.
February 12, 2012 11:18 AM
I think all the boils down to the idea of the blog has been lost. The idea is not to make money in anyway (regardless of the uses of that money) but is to provide a log of your army, tactics, your experiences at tournaments because YOU WANT TO. I don't think you should have to be paid, just it because its something you want to do.
Like I said, I would volunteer to write, if the blog needed it (notice I said write, not run) but as you have just said, you seem to be managing paying writers so I'll just stick to my own blog.
I can see where you're coming from and what you're trying to do; but from our point of view new owners have just turned up and are promoting donations to the site; with time I'm sure more people will accept you if the quality content and the idea of the blog continues.
One more thing, will your blood angels blog (http://blood-angels-red.blogspot.com/)(which look very similar to the space wolves one......) be up anytime soon?
February 12, 2012 11:22 AM
Maybe it was a good idea to do the raffle to all contributing (meaning also send-in at a standard the blogowner defines, not to only those paying) or to offer a equal price for the "send-in of the month" via readers vote.
I 'm just one of those passerbys (from germany so excuse the lot of mistakes in my language) and not a friend of bringing this money topic into the blog.
On the other hand i prefer a blog with donate-button to a dead blog.
So thanks for taking over to noam, for the lot of work put into the blog by adam and to all the readers and writers for caring.
Sven
p.s.: mind your words, both sides.
February 12, 2012 11:29 AM
@Dominic, wow I cannot believe the Bllod Angels blog caught your eye... I am just trying to figure out the blog structure and was playing with an empty blog and the template from this one.
My son runs a blood angels army so I just picked up Blood Angels, I dont think the Blood Angels blog will ever become a viable source of any information.
As for writing for FREE, start writing, if I see that you quality deserves payment and you are willing to work (meaning post 4 - 6 articles a month), we can discuss payment.
@Firnwulf: I adopt your idea about including the people who contribute in to the raffle (I will add it to the post and all future raffle posts) without a monetary donation. Probably something like 1 article published = 10 entries.
I also agree with your final words: lets all keep the discussion civilized.
February 12, 2012 11:30 AM
Wow Noam - that's a very mxed message your sending out!
So why didnt you just start another blog? Why buy this one? There are loads of spin off blogs that probably had the inspiration from this one. We are contributing to the hobby, just not on this blog. You and Paul can entertain each other without resurrecting this blog. I'm sure your a big shot in whatever your field is. BUT it does look like it is about cash.
You purchased the blog
You hired writers
You decided to push for donations
February 12, 2012 11:58 AM
Noam, I have emailed
spacewolvesblog@gmail.com
I'd appreciate if we could continue are discussion via that email rather than on comments here (way to long to be posted).
And can we all give Noam a bit of a break? Yes he probably pushed the money side of the blog a bit too far, too soon but give the guy a chance.
February 12, 2012 1:16 PM
--(5) Adam stopped writing because life got in the way. Adam is now writing because I pay him. Adam himself told me that all those who used to write with him stopped cold turkey and did not contribute to the blog. Okay so let me get this straight... your implying that this blog halted to a stop, because life got in the way for Adam. BUT since Adam is now getting paid to do it, he will suddenly grace this blog with his articles? While he had no problems working on the Tau blog all this time? LOL excuse me but, IMHO I wouldn't want someone writing for this blog who isn't really dedicated towards the Space Wolves. It almost feels like it's forced. I'd rather have someone write articles in this blog who has passion and love for the Sons of Russ. If Adam really had the passion, if he was truly a wolf player, then the blog wouldn't have died in the first place!
As for those who used to write here with Adam. To be honest, I'd rather hear from them instead from what your told by or hear from Adam. Because I've gotten a different impression and a different side of the story from said other contributors! not to mention there have been allot of submitted yet ignored e-mails from all the followers about WIP tutorials, artwork and articles that would have been sufficient fillers, until someone more worthy of the SW blog to take over.
Don't waste your money on Adam. Sure he's done allot for this blog, but at the same time, he gave up and abandoned the Wolves without even giving us the respect to give us a heads up on the current state of the blog.
February 12, 2012 1:41 PM
Well Noam, I understand your arguments, but... I still don´t understand.
I have a blog of my own, in Spanish, and I don´t get paid for it, and don´t pay my other contributor for writing her articles... We just love the hobby and make a blog in order to share our feelings with the hobby we have in common with other people. We don´t need to be paid for that.
You understood it wrong... no one is against the DONATE button, what we are against is to be reminded of that in EVERY post to be published...
Just try it, just try us to send articles freely and you maybe be surprised about the results...

(continue)
Just only one question: why did you change the comment form??
Why all these censorship... Are you afraid of possible corrections we should do to improve the blog??
Boy, don´t be silly... a blog has always a debt within its readers, if you censor the comments... the blog will sure die.
Think about it
February 12, 2012 3:41 PM
I'd just like to point out that no censorship has taken place, he's posted your comment hasn't he?
On my blog I require a comment to be approved before being posted. Mainly for three reasons (which I'm sure Noam will agree with)
1. Prevents spam
2. Prevents outright pointless abuse (nothing constructive just abuse)
3. The ability to stop inappropriate language (aka swearing) on the blog, afterall, children read this stuff.
February 12, 2012 6:48 PM
I'm gutted it's all come to this to be honest. Noam I understand you may not be too happy with people making comments about the donate aspect of certain parts of this Blog but I dont appreciate checking out the blog to Find Wolf Lord Paul straight out telling people where to go using foul language. If hes such a capable communicator why can't he articulate himself in such a manner?
As for you, your family, and your business, I understand you have outside influences like many normal adults but if its not about the money why bother mentioning how much the blog makes is less than you pay for a business lunch?
I've served my country in 2 seperate war zones, so does that make me more of a man, or more of a patriot than you??
Oh wait this is a blog about the Space Wolves that reference has no standing here.......
I'm sorry but this has all become a little bitter. As a UK reader I'm saddened by the direction this seems to have taken and I don't appreciate Pauls blatant disregard for normal fair use policies usually incorporated on blogs like this that remove and or censor such comments, due to the language used and the inflamitory nature.
You also said that if we think your running this for anything other than you or Pauls entertainment then we were wrong.
Surely the whole point of this blog is for the Space-wolf commnity, and the wargaming community as a whole?
I understand what your trying to do, I really do, but from the outside in, your guys have come off course a little and have rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way, I hope by accident.
I think its very admirable that you've paid out 'a sum of money' to keep something you enjoy up and running and for that I'd like to say thank you, whether you want it or not.
But imoa you need to ask the guys here to help fix it first, not help fix it or go away.
I'll help contribute with WIP stuff, battle reports I take part in no drama.
But I need to see some positive direction first.
Good luck I'd really like you guys to succeed.
February 12, 2012 11:21 PM
Dood..... Why is everyone crying about this? His blog now, his rules. You don't like it, look somewhere else for daily Space Wolves fix.
February 12, 2012 11:54 PM
I think the blog should not be about money if they need to pay people may as well make a magazine then maybe id be more permissive to the idea of raffles and donations etc. And forget adam he left us high and dry in a way
February 13, 2012 4:48 AM
"(5) Adam stopped writing because life got in the way. Adam is now writing because I pay him. Adam himself told me that all those who used to write with him stopped cold turkey and did not contribute to the blog"
I have held my tongue long enough.
I stopped writing for the blog because my and my Girl Friends lives took a turn for the worse last year - the death of both of her parents and me suffering from stress.
And I stopped even though Adam was paying per article.
I take great offence at this.
And as for telling Brad a fellow ex author on here to F off is out of order.
February 13, 2012 7:15 AM
I concur, the blog does now belong to Noam, and you are again right that as it is 'his blog' and people are required to, 'Play by his rules'.
However the use of abusive language because you have the inability to articulate yourself in a constructive manner is inexcusable.
This blog is for the people who access the internet looking for Space-Wolf related articles, unit information, and battle-reports etc.
It's not for 'everyone' if you have admins or people that own a share, or are just close buddy's with the guy that runs it, swearing when it's unnecessary. The comment is inflammatory and holds no positive grounds for a sensible discussion.
Plus it's paints the blog in a bad light from the outset if this going to be allowed to continue.
The comment has neither been censored or removed.
If I had a 12 year old son or daughter and they were checking this blog out for all their Space-wolf injected enthusiasm, to find the kind of language being used on here I wouldnt be impressed. Yet no-one seems to be addressing the fundamentals?
Yes Noam has asked for a donation, give or dont give thats up to you.
But can you justify the kind of comments/language on here just because of a reaction that someone does or doesn't agree with the views of the owner/admins?
It's been said, its been viewed and people of reacted negatively.
I'm all for freedom of speech, but either delete or censor the comment made by Wolf Lord Paul out of RESPECT for the wider community, not to censor the individual.
I think it's morally the right thing to do.
February 13, 2012 8:15 AM
@Arkangel, I agree that Pauls comment used inapropriate language but just like I left Brad comment in which he accused me of CONNING people (which I am totally not) I figured I will leace Paul's comment in. I am considering removing both.
And for the rest of you: I am trying to post all replies BUT: if you reply is advertising your blog, it wont be put in, if your reply has links to products, it wont be put in.
Also, please understand that there is a ton of Spam replies so if I lose your reply, please contact me via email and I will look for it and post it once I find it.
The discussion here is about weather it is right or wrong for me to pay people to write. I can end it for you right here: The blog is mine, I play by my own rules. I would love to have you read here and I intend to put out a pretty good product, BUT if you dont like it, you can always opt to not read here.
I wont respond to this kind of replies anymore, I am not 17 - 25 like most of you, I dont have the time or energy to write enough content to make this a viable Blog so I hire people to do some of it for me, you got a problem with that? I respect your opinion, you may act upon it. But please, at some point you have to understand, this is me and this is how I do it. Like it or not, youre on MY blog so respect my decision to continue it and manage it in a certain way. Nobody is forced to read or participate. I would like you guys to stay and enjoy and discuss but dont lecture me about how to do my thing, I think I have done enough in life to know what is apropriate.
I can promise you that a lot is going to change. Mostly for the better. Some of which you will like and some you wont. Thats life. Live it, like it, accept it. Otherwise you will just be bitter and for no real reason.
Namaste. Enjoy. I am glad you came.
February 13, 2012 8:48 AM
@MC Tik Tok - so Adam WAS paying for articles... there goall the arguments against paying for content...as if I invented this process.
As for the reasons why you stopped writing, I am sorry for your hardship, I really am. What I wrote was that you guys stopped cold turkey, I did not write that it was unjustified or make any comment as to the reasons why you stopped. All I wrote is that you guys stopped and that comment was made in the context of complainers writing that there are many who would like to write here for free.
Just FYI, I have been approached by a few writers. Some qualified and some not, none of those were any of the people screaming bloody hell here.
MC Tik Tok, if interested in continuing to write, email me at spacewolvesblog@gmail.com, lets talk.
February 13, 2012 5:22 PM
Thank you for taking down Brad's and Paul's posts. Both were in poor taste and childish. Brad for knock on the blogs integrity and Paul's foul mouthed response. I don't know if there is some sort of beef going on behind the scenes but, this blog isn't really the place for it, in my opinion. Take it up somewhere else. It almost made me not want to follow this blog anymore but, I'm going to give it a chance.
As for the asking for donation and paying writers, do what you need to do. I've never donated to this blog but, now I might as there are potential prizes involved. It's like paying for a raffle ticket.
