Raging Heroes Cyber Wolf

The Cyberwolf from Raging Heroes could be just what we're looking for in an appropriate Thunderwolf Cavalry model.

Loads of independent miniatures companies have made giant wolves, but for me, none of them have really nailed the concept.

Some look like up scaled wolves, some look like bears, some look...well, they just look a bit rubbish really.

I talked about a Thunderwolf Cavalary conversion a while back, using green stuff, plasticard and a plastic Khorne Juggernaught. However, the persistent rumours of Forge World not making Thunderwolves because Games Workshop want to make them has made me hold fire for well over a year now.

Frankly, I'm sick of waiting and believe this previewed Cyberwolf could be the answer we've all been waiting for -Especially when the sculpts we've seen from Raging Heroes are amazing!

Recently bought the Armorcast Armored Sturmwolf. I am very happy with the looks tbh.
The sketches look promising though :)

Some things are just difficult to understand... was there any need for a Lukas the Trickster mini when you can easily convert it with the new kits? how many Njals are they going to sell with his 240 point burden? and then you see the prices on ebay of the wulfen models and all the noise in forums around thunderwolves and you have to wonder if there is anyone at GW that thinks about their customers.

I've also been waiting for a GW thunderwolf models but honestly my patience is almost spent. Maybe when I'm done painting all the dreadfleet stuff I'll get to it

I've got the mythicast wolves and couldn't be happier with them. I think they look rugged enough and aren't as chunky as the Mr Dandy ones. I even prefer them to the Canis model.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Photos on my blog for anyone who's interested

The link to your Thunderwolf Cavalary conversion goes to the same page as this article.

Also, what's some good alternative miniature sources for general Fenrisan wolf models that doesn't require a lot of green stuff? I'm looking to get a few, but it's sometimes hard to judge the minis from only seeing the pictures and not in person.

Thanks

For my first post on this lovely lovely blog, id aslo like to say how daft it seems that GW havent bothered to brnig out anything for thunderwolves..
Have recently started playing th egame after about 7 years out, picked up a cheap SW army on ebay, so bought the new codex..which turned out to be awesome..and really wanted to field some TW cavalry
..my first major game in about 7 years was a very laid back apocalypse affair (bascially all my mates brought their army..it ended up being templars/space wolves vs orks/tyranids/choas), where i had a squad of TWC riding around on the backs of goblin wolves..looked ridiculous but they destroyed 15 genestealers and two 40 man strong ork mobs without taking a single casualty.

So aye, tehres been lot of chat abuot their poitns worth, but they worked awesomely for me and i wanted to put a proper unit together..only to find that i have to spend about 100-150 quid and countless hours on conversions to field a troop in one of the most popular codexes, which has been out for 2 years??! total madness. My brother in laws mate actually works for workshop so he'll eb getting a grilling when im next home.

Either way..those mythicast wolves look great..will probably invest in 5 of them for a TWC squad and then get the cyberwolf one when thats out for a thunderlord conversion

apologies for the long post, its my first so i got kinda excited and my lunch hour has been boring as hell :)

Right there with you. I put together thunderwolves as space marines on cold ones, as a quick cheap alternative while waiting for the official ones to make their debut.

In my opinion, these from Raging Heroes, if done at all well, will make at least three third party company's with more than acceptable figs out there.

Thankfully, I have more than enough on my painting table right now to keep me busy until the end of the year. If GW hasn't come out with something by then? I figure it will be time to get on with one of the third party options.

Judging from the rest of their figs, Raging Heroes cyber wolves will be on the short list. Really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

DFG ordered a bunch of their stuff about a year and a half ago (basically their whole range at the time) and while they looked great online, the final product lacked detail and the metal was crumbling. They never responded to any of our e-mails and we still have the junk sitting around in bits boxes. I would beware of any of this company's products.

I'm an old 'Lone Wolf' collecting Space Wolves from the start and I have this nagging feeling that Thunderwolves may go the same way as the 13th company a while ago.
Brought on with much noise, then killed off silently... GW is jumping every wich way but the right one lately IMHO. And don't get me started on prices, lol!

Unless Forgeworld are planning some kind of TWC unit for the IA:11 book, i cant see them producing Thunderwolves simply due to the fact that, off the top of my head, i cant think of a single codex book unit thats not made by GW.

Here's what I use: D&D Miniatures, Rime Hound. You can pick them up on ebay for very little. I'm not terribly good at conversions, but it was easy to spread a pair of biker legs over this baby. I then used green stuff to make some reins, though the next one will use small gauge chain.
