These true scale Land Raider pictures were sent in by Space Wolves blog reader Mike from Germany. He built this armoured behemoth using parts from a Bane Blade super heavy and a Land Raider and a half!
I asked Mike if he was making true scale Space Wolves to go with it. Confused, he asked me what true scale was before telling me that this was merely his personal transport for Logan Grimnar named "Steel of Armageddon".
Look closely and you can see that this anything but a simple conversion.Mike has used very carefully trimmed pieces of plasticard to finish the tracks and blend them with the tanks hull.
He's also magnetised the sponson weapons so that he can swap them out for whatever he needs.
This is something I've been considering for my own Land Raider conversion.
I was thinking of doing something 'different' and when I saw Mike's conversion my eyes really lit up.
James was round here painting at the time. He noticed I had that crazed look in my eye and firmly told me "No" for being quite, quite mad.
Still, if you don't think about the gaming impracticality of having such a large tank (and target), this is an awesome model. Not sure if I can personally justify the cost, but it presents some excellent ideas for anyone inspired by the Horus Heresy illustrations of enormous Land Raiders.
I was keen to see what else Mike from Germany creates for his Space Wolves. Then he suddenly emailed me the following day with a couple of photos of his Blood Claws buggy.
Yeah, you know you want one!The Blood Claw driver is obviously having a good time too.
I have no idea how Mike has attached the wheels and created a suspension system, but I'm determined to find out!
Maybe if we ask very nicely he'll do a conversion tutorial for us all?

Mike, if you are reading this, I'd love to see a comparison to a normal LR.

it is indeed very good work! But I wonder what it means "True Scale"!!! This is not a 1:1 scale by any chance because "True Scale" it is only a 1:1 scale! Propably the title is wrong... cause at the first photo it shows the star wars game boxes that it is smaller than the Warhammer 40k Novels!
Anyway very good work!

True Scale means larger than normal really. I.e a True Scale marine is taller than a Guardsman, as Space Marines are supposedly 8ft tall, but the models are the same size as others.

Love this Land Raider. It´s a real scale pre-heresy model and it´s awesome!
The buggy is really cool too. and it´s much more realistic than The one I built some years ago.
Love to modify and create new miniatures from the enormous plastic range. And these real scale marines with bigger proportiions, closer to original artwork are a great work. When I´´ ll get again a new digital camera, I wanna take and send some new pics of my army. They´re some really old school pieces there!
