Sometimes real life has to come first, so I'm taking a break from building and painting stuff for a little while.Don't worry, the Space Wolves blog will keep rockin' along as always.
A lot of lifely frustrations seemed to be seeping into my wargames hobby, leading to all kinds of indecisions and splash purchases.
I also have a mixture of ideas in my head for how I'd like to do my Pre Heresy Space Wolves army. So it seemed to be more sensible to just back off and focus on work, friends and maybe a fresh relationship.
I'm also having a massive purge of the house and sticking a lot of stuff on eBay.
It's a full 'cleansing' experience. A tidy mind, a tidy house and most importantly -less stress.
To save them from the eBaying frenzy, I've entered my Pre Heresy Grey Hunter pack and Rune Priest into the display cabinet at Marquee Models in Harlow, Essex.James and I have been dropping into "Keith's" for more years than we can remember. Most of the time James buys a boxed set for the weekend. I don't buy a damn thing besides the occasional brush or pot of paint and choose to order online for a discount instead.
Still, Keith almost (almost!) persuaded me to buy the Storm Raven. It didn't look quite so hideous in real life after all.
Now to play some more games of Warhammer 40K. I might swap armies with James this time and see how he plays the Space Wolves...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Oh, OK, you're not shutting down. I don't know if I could handle that after FTW.
I completely understand how you feel. It's good to take some time now matter how you take it. I took some time away from my Space Wolves to paint a Dwarf army. It was enough of a break for me so that when I went back to the Pups, I felt renewed and ready to paint.
To be honest, I'm starting to feel that way again. Wonder what I'll do this time?
Anywho, can't wait for the return of your Wolf Guard army as I have been following the construction avidly. I would also be interested in your ebay tag, as your work is very nice.

Mabey you just need to 'focus' your hobby a little.
Personally, i'll write a modular army list. Usually starting at around 1000pts and building up in 250 or 500pt blocks all the way to a full FoC.
In that FoC i'll have designated tourny segments, but mostly i'll collect based on fluff.
I then refuse to even buy the next unit until the previous unit is completely finished, well unless I need a specific unit for a tourney or something then I might rush one.
This way no matter how your imagination runs away with your next army (which it always does, i've got about 3 different lists buzzing around in my head at any one time) you've got that army list sitting at home making sure you don't get distracted.
I currently am one unit of swiftclaws away from filling Engir Krakendoom's FoC. It's taken me the better part of 2 years but there it is. It'll be 5000pts (with some fluffy upgrades) and NONE of it has had to go on eBay.
As a reward i'm planning a Ragnar and a Arjac conversion for club games.
Then I start my next FoC.

Sometimes I wish I had the sense to take a break for a little while.
But it was nice to win one of marquee model's mini tournaments with my space wolves in view of your pre heresy grey hunters and rune priest.
