It was awesome. In fact, it was JAWSome! I've never seen so much stuff die to Jaws Of The World Wolf and I only had the 1 Rune Priest. With 4 wins, 1 Draw and 1 Loss, I placed 9th out of 113. Alex was just behind me in 10th place. Mike got 36th place and James (who had a great time with his Deathwing) came 73rd. Brad dropped in on the Saturday to say hi as well.
I also take great pride in being the highest ranking Space Wolves player and for getting the third highest Victory Points ranking in the tournament. I killed a lot of stuff!
Stars of the ShowContrary to what many expected, my Wolf Guard Terminators in their Land Raider were the real stars of the show.
Wherever a torrent of plasma and melta was needed -they were there.
Wherever lots of power weapons were needed -they were there.
The Land Raider wasn't bad either and the extra lascannons made a huge difference in my army. Although, after getting hammered by Land Raider Redeemers, I'm seriously considering one.
However, the more conservative nature of the Land Raider prevented me from committing the Wolf Guard Terminators too early. I feel some play testing is in order to perfect the combination of these two units.
In the meantime, I've got about 8 articles to write after this fantastic weekend, so...
Stay Tuned For:
A look at the Space Wolves armies from the GT
An in depth explanation of my 1750pts Space Wolves GT list
All 6 battle reports!
In the meantime, I'm fired up to paint some more Space Wolves!

Well done dude. Army looks great and you got an awesome/jawsome result.
I'm playing blood angels on Thursday with a similar list but no termies or landraider. Maybe time to dust off that redeemer!

Congrats! Can't wait for the articles.

Congrats! Good to see jaws working well!

Awesome mate. Was pleased to see this list do well and place top 10.
I love terminators and am quite fond of packing them up in a LR from time to time, so to see them as your shining star is great.
Looking forward to the BReps's.

9th! That's pretty impressive, good work.
You'll have to test your mettle against my Grey Knights sometime. Yup I've ditched the pointy ears for some shiny power armour.

Kudos on the top 10 finish. Funnily enough I was playing in a tourney over the weekend too and I only used Jaws once. In 5 games. And it didn't kill anyone.
Its probably because he didn't get out of his Razorback much and took a preference to casting Storm Caller.
I'm nicely surprised to see the WG Termies perform so well - I'm assuming that stripping wounds off of units/MC with Plasma or popping Transports/Dreads with Melta meant they earned their points back and didn't miss their Storm Shields too much?
Btw, tell Killswitch I'll be crossing swords with him in Cork next month if he's coming over for the 6 Nations.

The sheer volume of high strength, low AP shots just cuts through everything. Then you follow it up with a power weapon charge.

You did an awesome Job mate :-D
As for my lowly 36th - All I can say is Josh Roberts/guard/dow/5 objectives 5 turns... still only 60 vp's in it!
Then Nathan Roberts(younger bro) took mephiston and he was a beast... It didnt help that out of 25 first turn dice rolls, 17 of them were ones!
Enough excuses. I will chuck an article on regarding the painful lessons I have learnt from this week end and how to avoid them in future!

The highest ranking space wolves was 9th? I'm quite surprised by that... What were the 8 armies ahead of yours?

I was at an event here in the states (Michigan) this past weekend and Jawsed a flying Tyrant! The look on his face was priceless!

Jacob: I believe they were mostly Imperial Guard.

From the Tournament result, what strikes me is that you'll find 20% SW, 20% IG, 10% Orks, and ... 30% Dark Eldars ... I wouldn't have expected that :)

Which Land Raider do you use? I sometimes get a bit confused reading your unit tactics and seeing you guys doing it different from those. I understand that it depends on the battle role compiled from the entire army, but still?
What kind of a LR is better in a list like this one?
March 29, 2011 at 6:45 AM
30% Dark Eldar? There were only 6 Dark Eldar players IIC out of 113. Think your math might be a bit off.

Excellent job Adam!
Question: I used a similar list to yours against Blood Angels (minus Termies/LR due to 1200 pts limit) and found myself severely lacking in assault skills (esp. since my opponent brought Dante). How did you deal with MC and the more powerful assault units?

It makes me happy to hear that good 'ol "termies in a Land Raider" still works!
March 29, 2011 at 12:12 PM
Gotta love the jaws .... congrats on the top ten placing...

Late response I guess, but Congratulations on a truly awesome finish.
I also wanted to say love your blog, and tactics, dont play Wolves meself, but I do play against them, and seeing the different things you can do with a Wolf Codex is always worth a read.
Keep up the good work, and good luck on a better position next time!
